Freddy’s Game 4 2010 World Series Catch v. Bobby Richardson’s Game 7 1962 World Series Grab

My good friend Charlie and I wondered over breakfast earlier this year if the amazing leaping catch made by Giants 2B Freddy Sanchez in Game 4 of the 2010 World Series was comparable to the heart-crushing catch (for Giants fans) made by Yankees 2B Bobby Richardson of Willie McCovey’s line drive to end the 1962 World Series. Alas, no. Freddy made the better catch, but Richardson’s grab had a bigger impact and haunted Giants fans for decades. Freddy’s catch was just one more piece of evidence that the 2010 World Series belonged to the Giants.
